Saudi Arabia has announced a significant policy change, allowing foreigners to perform Umrah on any visa. Gulf News reported this inclusive decision on Thursday, April 25, citing the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. The move is part of a broader initiative to simplify visa arrangements and help the spiritual journey of millions of Muslims worldwide.
In a social media post, the Ministry said that people from any country can now perform Umrah without restrictions. This applies to any Saudi visa they hold, including personal, family, transit, labor, and e-visa holders.
To streamline the pilgrimage experience further, the Saudi government has launched a ‘Digital Bag’ program. This new program aims to improve the lives of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. It will make their religious duties easier. The program seeks to assist pilgrims by providing timely guidance on religious rites and offering support throughout their spiritual journey.
Additionally, the Ministry encourages pilgrims to use the Nusuk app. Getting Umrah permits and following scheduled times for rituals at the Grand Mosque in Mecca is critical.
The Saudi government has also introduced several other improvements for Umrah pilgrims. These include extending Umrah visa durations from 30 to 90 days, allowing entry via land, air, and sea, and removing the requirement for women to be with a male guardian. These enhancements show that Saudi Arabia is committed to meeting the diverse needs of Muslims visiting its holy sites. They will make the sites more inclusive and accessible for religious observance.
