As of the morning of April 27, 2024, the weather authority has issued a forecast for the next three days. It says that the Chittagong and Sylhet divisions might have brief showers accompanied by gusty winds or thunderstorms. There is also a possibility of scattered hail in some areas. Despite these predictions of rain, the forecast suggests that the severe heatwave is likely to continue in other parts of the country.
Detailed forecasts have identified districts like Chuadanga and Meherpur as among the hottest. Temperatures there may rise up to 42.6 degrees Celsius. Other regions, such as Rajshahi, Pabna, Tangail, Bogura, Bagerhat, Jessore, and Kushtia, still may suffer from an extreme heatwave. A mild to medium heatwave covers parts of Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur, Noakhali, and Bandarban. It also covers the Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Barishal divisions.
The Meteorological Department also expects day temperatures to rise a bit. Night temperatures are likely to stay as they are. The high humidity levels might continue to contribute to residents’ discomfort.
The April 28 forecast expects intermittent rain and thunderstorms. Hail may occur in isolated areas of Sylhet and Chittagong. The rest of the country might see partially cloudy skies but predominantly dry weather conditions.
The heatwave continues to pose a threat. Temperatures are expected to stay the same day and night across Bangladesh. The high humidity will likely keep discomfort levels high.
