Royal Enfield, the iconic motorcycle brand with a rich heritage, is set to make a significant entrance into the Bangladeshi market in July 2024. The UK’s renowned motorcycle manufacturer has partnered with Ifad Autos to locally manufacture and sell four of its 350cc models in Bangladesh: the Classic, Bullet, Hunter, and Meteor. This collaboration marks a historic moment as it introduces motorcycles above the 165cc limit, which was previously the maximum engine capacity allowed for bikes in Bangladesh.

The government’s recent decision to permit motorcycles with engine capacities of up to 350cc to be sold and driven in Bangladesh has paved the way for Royal Enfield’s entry. This move is part of a broader effort to enhance the country’s transportation and automotive industry, promoting higher engine capacity bikes for better safety and infrastructure development.

Pre-booking for these motorcycles is expected to start in May 2024, with Ifad Motors, under Ifad Group, spearheading the local manufacturing efforts. This strategic move is anticipated to not only diversify the motorcycle market in Bangladesh but also stimulate the local economy by creating jobs and fostering technological advancements in automotive manufacturing.

The pricing of the Royal Enfield motorcycles, although not finalized, is expected to range between 5 to 6 lakh BDT, contingent on the exchange rate at the time of launch. Ifad Motors aims to manufacture 40,000 motorcycles a year at its factory in Chattogram, highlighting the scale of their commitment to this venture.
